Harry McMahon Emeritus Professor Harry McMahon, now in his early seventies, has been painting for nearly thirty years. He tutored for 10 years at Flowerfield and became a member of the Ulster Watercolour Society. He had had several highly successful exhibitions in Flowerfield, across N. Ireland and in La Roche-sur-Yon, France. His paintings feature in collections in Ireland, England, France and the USA. On his retirement from an academic career in 2001, he embarked on four years of study in Fine and Applied Art at Limavady College, where he won the Wright Perpetual Award, and then a final year at the 5* School of Art & Design at the University of Ulster, where he was a Garfield-Weston Scholar. He graduated with First Class Honours in Fine & Applied Art in the summer of 2006. His work ranges from the conceptual and figurative, through to political and satirical, to the traditional. His first love, and his lasting love, is painting the landscapes and seascapes of his home country, Ireland, in all her moods.
